Skype is working on 3D video calling, however, the process has been put on hold because they must wait for technology to catch up.  Unfortunately, Mark Gillett says it may be "many years" until this technology can actually evolve into what it needs to be for this to take place.  They have done much research with 3D screens and such and have made some progress, but its still not where it needs to be so until then they will continue experimenting with such things.  Gillett says in order for the 3D to occur laptops, computers, and other devices must be installed with many more cameras.  They must also be pointed certain directions with different effects to give the desirable image that is needed.  Working in the lab has proved that they do know how to "make it work," but just don't have the technology for that yet.  We will hopefully see this 3D Skype in years to come as technology advances.
